Day One Auckland – Bay of Island
Collect your rental vehicle from either Auckland Airport or downtown Auckland and depart Auckland and drive north over Auckland’s Harbour Bridge and along the Hibiscus Coast, with golden sand beaches. Along the journey you may be able to view the kauri, one of New Zealand’s mighty native trees. The journey continues, travelling through Whangarei arriving in the beautiful township of Paihia in the Bay of Islands. This afternoon a visit and a guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds the site of the historic treaty between the Maori and European pioneers, has been arranged. View a magnificent Maori meeting house and large war canoe. Remainder of the afternoon and evening is at leisure to explore Paihia and the surrounding area.

Day Two – Paihia, Ninety Mile Beach, Cape Reinga
Today you have the option of exploring on your own and if you wish drive north to the top of the North Island, Cape Reinga. Your will travel through rolling heavily forested hill country and some ancient subtropical rainforest before travelling the final 90 miles along a narrow strip of land with the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Tasman Sea on the other. As an alternative to self-driving you do have the option today of taking a day tour by coach from Paihia to Cape Reinga, see optional extras listed opposite. The coach journey will include travel along the aptly named Ninety Mile Beach to Cape Reinga, where two great oceans meet at the very top of New Zealand. A buffet style lunch is included on the tour and a stop will be made at a local museum, (contains good information pertaining to the original Maori and early European settlement of this area). The tour returns to Paihia late afternoon.
Day Three – Bay of Islands – Auckland
Today you can have the morning at leisure or enjoy a cruise to Cape Brett and Piercy Island and discover the Bay’s highlights from the water. (This optional extra is available on the booking menu opposite.) Sea conditions permitting travel through the cavernous Hole in the Rock and marvel at what nature has created. Spot dolphins frolicking, seals and more. Returned to Russell with a sightseeing tour of this historic township. Enjoy some shopping alone the waterfront before returning to Paihia. At your leisure you will return to Auckland and can drop your vehicle off at either a downtown location or back at Auckland Airport, the choice is yours; on the return of the rental vehicle this four day tour concludes.

The tour pricing is on a twin share basis with up to two adults and two children travelling (children will be sharing the same hotel room as their parents). Should a single person be travelling, then the single person supplement will apply. See extras available on the booking menu.
