Day One: Auckland – Bay of Islands
Depart Auckland and travel north via the Hibiscus Coast, with golden sand beaches, travelling through Whangarei arriving in the beautiful township of Paihia, Bay of Islands. Tour the Waitangi Treaty Grounds the site of the historic treaty between the Maori and European pioneers. View a magnificent Maori meeting house and war canoe. Remainder of the day leisure to explore Paihia.

Day Two: Bay of Islands – Auckland
Today cruise to Cape Brett and Piercy Island and discover the Bay’s highlands from the water including abundant wildlife. Sea conditions permitting travel through the cavernous Hole in the Rock. Spot dolphins frolicking, seals and more. Returned to Russell for a sightseeing tour of this historic township, returning to Paihia with a mid-afternoon departure for Auckland.

Day Three: Auckland – Hobbiton – Rotorua
Depart from Auckland by coach for your journey to Rotorua via Hobbiton, the farm that has been transformed for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie set. Tour fairytale landscapes of the Shire, see 44 hobbit holes, the Mill and double arch bridge, the party tree and visit the Green Dragon Inn. On departing Hobbiton your coach continues through the scenic Kaimai Ranges to Rotorua.

Day Four: Rotorua
Today tour this geothermal wonderland, known as Rotorua; included are Te Puia and a Maori Cultural Tour. Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve and Maori Arts and Craft Institute, the thermal valley with the famous Pohutu Geyser, and boiling mud pools. Rainbow Springs and the famous New Zealand kiwi bird. Agrodome, with a tour of a working farm. Watch a sheep being shorn, hand-feed the animals and a sheep dog trial.

Day Five Rotorua – Waitomo – Auckland
Depart Rotorua and travel through the lush Waikato Plains, the Fitzgerald Glade and Mamaku Hills to Waitomo. A guided tour of the Waitomo Caves by boat into the famous Glowworm Grotto. Wander through subterranean caverns and see spectacular limestone rock formations. From Waitomo the coach continues through the beautiful Waikato region, with its extensive dairy farming to Auckland where the tour concludes.
