Travel by road along the scenic Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle. Journey back in time with our guide, for a tour of New Zealand’s only castle built in 1871. Learn the scandalous, exciting and tragic history of Larnach Castle, see the magnificent carved ceilings, antiques and craftsmanship. Enjoy the beauty of the gardens of international significance and breathtaking views.

You will then join the wildlife cruise with unrivaled viewing of the exciting diversity of wildlife which abounds around Taiaroa Head on the Otago Peninsula including the only mainland nesting place for Northern Royal Albatross in the world. You will also see New Zealand Fur Seals, rarely seen ocean birds, including other species of albatross; you may also see penguins, dolphins, sea lions and other marine mammals in their natural environment. The cruise includes commentary which includes details of the fascinating history and geology of the area.

To conclude your tour by returning to Dunedin by road travelling along the scenic Otago Peninsula. You will enjoy spectacular harbour and ocean views throughout the journey.

Monarch's Wildlife Cruise is just fantastic - we had a great experience with them. We booked a combination tour that included the MV Monarch cruise and a visit to Larnach Castle, apparently New Zealand's only castle. The cruise was so great because the crew of the MV Monarch is outstanding. The skipper did a wonderful job of keeping the ride as comfortable as possible despite variable conditions all while providing excellent commentary about the wildlife, as well as historical tidbits. Monarch provides passengers with amazing, thick, wind-proof jackets, so even though it was windy and cold on board, we were completely comfortable. Each passenger is also given a set of binoculars to use. We saw seals, shags, and the famous albatrosses, but the highlight for me was when a pod of curious, hyperactive, acrobatic dolphins came to investigate our boat. They were so close to the ship - swimming around and beneath and in front of it. The guided tour of Larnach Castle was very interesting and informative and well worth the visit. It was just incredible day! I'll never forget it.

"Fantastic Shore Trip"
Booked the wildlife cruise with Larnach Castle. Picked up from the cruise ship on time and the day ran like clockwork. Loved the cruise, lots of wildlife and very informative and Larnach Castle is a must see!
