A half day tour of Wellington City including Mt Victoria and the Wellington film studios and post production facilities, including the Weta Workshop at ‘Wellywood’. Included is a guided tour of the physical prop-making and makeup side of the studio at the new ‘Windows into Workshop’ exhibition.

This half day tour brings out the best locations in Wellington City and is the best way to see Wellington’s Lord of the Ring locations with a knowledgeable specialist guide. Around the city the tour takes in Courtenay Place and the Embassy Movie theatre where the world premier of some of the movies, including the Hobbit have been held. Then it up to Mt Victoria for some magnificent views of the city and harbour, on the drive down a stop will be made at ‘Green Belt’ a forest location where several of the movie scenes were shot. It is then off to ‘Wellywood’ the Wellington film studios and post production facilities, including the Weta Workshop. You will visit the brand new ‘Windows into Workshop’ exhibition. "Great Half Day Option"
Our guide was very knowledgeable and a true LOTR fan. She had lots of inside information about the filming of the movies and has inspired me to come back home and watch them all over again so that I can see the places we visited. Thank you for a fabulous tour, this is a great half day option.

This is one of the best tours I ever have done. Our guide was really well informed and loved his subject. The staff at Weta Studios who truly love their job were amazing, a very talented group.

"Fabulous Tour"
We had a great time. Our guide was really excited about us seeing all the aspects of the tour. As we toured the sights where they shot scenes, our guide showed the scenes on his iPad and pointed out exactly what part we were looking at and what elements of the scene were digitally added or shot somewhere else. I don't know if that's standard on these tours but I thought it was great. I felt the best part was the guides knowledge and excitement about the material. It would be easy to have a guide who just brings you somewhere and shows you the sights, but having someone who obviously enjoys the subject and enjoys what they're doing makes all the difference. We had a fabulous tour.
