This two day tour with one nights accommodation in Queenstown departs Dunedin on the Taieri Gorge Railway at 9.30 am. Travelling through the spectacular Taieri Gorge to Pukerangi, across wrought iron viaducts and through tunnels carved by hand more than 100 years ago this is one of the great train journeys of a by-gone era. At Pukerangi you will transfer onto a coach for your travel through Central Otago, with its bizarre schist rock tors, desert landscapes, orchards, vineyards, blue lakes, high mountains and wild river gorges to Queenstown, arriving at 5.00 pm.
Your evening accommodation is at a centrally located 4 / 4.5 star Queenstown Hotel. You will have the evening at leisure to explore, what has been described as the most beautiful town in New Zealand, set on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and looking out to the spectacular Remarkables Mountain Range. The central township of Queenstown is within walking distance of your hotel
On the morning of day two you will depart Queesntown at 8.00 am by coach and travel by road via the Kawarau Gorge, Cromwell, Lake Dunstan, The Lindas Pass, Omararma and Twizel to Lake Pukaki where on a clear day you will be afforded magnificent views of Mount Cook, Australasia’s highest mountain. From there you will continue onto Lake Tekapo before travelling through the rolling hill country between Fairle and Geraldine.
The coach will then travel through the Canterbury Plains to Rolleston where you will be meet for a private transfer from the coach to your cruise ship berthed in Akaroa Harbour for the continuation of your cruise.
