Collected from your accommodation and transferred to the Tamaki pre-European Maori Village nestled within a native Tawa forest, On arrival you will share in the Powhiri, an ancient ceremony of welcome before being invited into the village with its sights, sounds and activities of days gone by, including facial tattooing, weaving, carving and food was preparation pre-European times. You will witness the opening of the hangi pit, revealing baskets laden with sumptuous food for your dinner that has been cooked beneath the ground on hot stones. You will relax inside the ancestral meeting house, at the heart of the village, where you will be entertained with a powerful cultural performance including the “haka”. Dinner is the traditional hangi buffet feast with a traditional New Zealand desert.
